Printing and Photocopying at Wascana

March 6, 2008

Comment: “Please get…

  1. double-sided printer
  2. NEW photocopiers
  3. leave paper & extra staples near the stapler & printer”

Thanks for the comments!

Being able to print double sided is definitely a good suggestion. Not only does it save trees, it also saves students room in their binders and backpacks. We’re going to take this into consideration with any future printer purchases.

In regard to the photocopies, we’ve got new copiers on order, and they should be installed by June or July.

Lastly, we keep the extra paper and staples at the Ask Us desk. You can grab a stack of paper without asking, but the staplers are all different sizes so in order to get the right refills all you have to do it ask for them! We feel that extra paper and staples at each station would clutter up the work areas and usually students need the room to layout their work there.

Signs at Wascana

March 6, 2008

Comment: “More signs telling others where places are, eg. Learning Assistance.”

Thanks for your suggestion. The library is always looking for ways that we can improve the interior space, so we’ll definitely keep it in mind. We realize that finding where Learning Assistance is in the library could be confusing, but you can always ask – we’re a pretty friendly bunch! Also, I passed along your suggestion to Learning Assistance and they’re looking into the idea as well.

Study Room Time Limits at Kelsey

March 4, 2008

Comment: “Request for time limits for study rooms.”

We are sympathetic to your concerns and will take them under advisement. There are many things to consider when making decisions of this nature. Although the study rooms can be fully booked at peak times such as lunch breaks or exam periods, they are not as heavily used at other times and we are wary of placing any restrictions on who can use them and for how long. Also, please be aware that if the student who has booked the study room does not claim it in the first ten minutes of their booking, the room is open for other students. Thank you for your comments.

Comment: “Request for foreign language texts.”

Kelsey Library expands its collection in accord with the programs being offered by this SIAST campus. Since all instruction at this campus is carried out in English, we purchase only English language materials. We recommend the services of the Saskatoon Public Library which offers extensive foreign language material.

Copier-Computer Height at Kelsey

March 4, 2008

Comment: “Change the height of computer for copiers.”

We understand the unwieldiness of the current copier-computer setup. In response to your request, we have placed a short stool by the copiers to facilitate use of the computers. We will continue to investigate feasible alternatives to the computer desks currently in place. Thank you for your comments.

Library Hours at Kelsey

March 4, 2008

Comment: “Open earlier and stay open later.”

Thank you for participating in our Talk Back program. In the past we were open as late as 10:15 PM but we found the usage was minimal and therefore did not warrant staffing the library for that time. However we constantly monitor usage and will consider changing the hours in the future if usage numbers warrant it.
