Thanks for your comments. Our SIAST campus libraries generally open at 7:30 am in advance of classes that start a short while later. This give students time to visit the library if they need to before class. We are open 7 days a week for your convenience though (except for holidays). We provide study environments to accommodate users needing silence to those preferring a more social setting. Please stop by and we can show you where our quiet areas are. Visit the security desk in front of the library to learn where to park. Hopefully, this will help you to avoid any further parking tickets!

Comment: It would be nice if someone could ask people to be quiet or keep the chatting down… especially around the couches. I know many people that find it difficult to study in here because of the noise and have actually seen people leave in frustration because of it.

Thank you for your comments. Our library strives to be a welcoming place for our patrons with a broad range of needs. Some people prefer to work alone in a quiet place, whereas others prefer a group work environment. That is the reason we provide a variety of work spaces ranging from quiet study rooms and our silent study room to computer work stations that can accommodate more than one person to our couch area where users can be more social. It is our hope that by providing variety of work spaces we are able to satisfy the work/study needs of our patrons.

When we notice (or is brought to our attention) that a patron is being unusually noisy, we approach the patron and ask them to be considerate of others working in the library. Most patrons are very cooperative. Also, please stop by our Ask Us! Desk and we can direct you to our quiet study areas.

Thanks for your comment here.  It would help if you would let Fabian know which part of the library you find to be cold as some parts of the library are warmer than others.  This way we can focus our efforts as we try to make the library warmer.  We will see what can be done about cold down drafts.  Note that some people like to work in cooler areas.  Our study rooms and desks in our silent study room (next to the carrels) are warmer.  The computer desks in the main area are warmer too and finally, our computer labs are warmest.

The Library has set a standard for cleanliness that is unmatched in other computer labs on campus by wiping down the keyboards and table tops every day and supplying bottles of hand sanitizer at the computers.  We use hand sanitizer that is recommended by the Health Nurse.  The Health community recommends hand washing as the best method for preventing the transfer of germs.  We won’t be supplying wipes at the keyboards, but thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for browsing our paperback section.  As you noticed, we don’t have graphic novels, anime or Manga novels.  We appreciate your suggestion to purchase Manga, however, our mandate is to purchase items that support the programs offered at Palliser Campus.  We purchase very few paperbacks each year and we aren’t able to carry anime or Manga due to budget and space restrictions.  Saskatchewan Public Libraries have a lot of Manga novels and you’ll be able to get them through the public library system.
