Quiet in the Woodland Library

Comment: People need to be quiet. It’s study time! And keep library open until 10:00 p.m.

Quiet Study:
The library has a designated Quiet Study room A102. This room is dedicated as a quiet study room with no talking allowed.

Library Hours:
The current library evening and weekend hours were established in response to student concerns and feedback. We will discuss your suggestion to extend the weekday hours to 10:00 PM.

Wascana Hours Among Others

Comment from a Wascana student: I would prefer if the library was open until 11:00 PM.  Also, extended hours during finals.  Also provide snacks and juice (rum preferable) during finals – need to take the edge off!!

Thanks for your comment! We are constantly evaluating our hours to ensure they are meeting the needs of our students, this resulted in the library being open late on Sundays throughout the school year.  We’ll discuss your suggestion at an upcoming staff meeting.

We usually provide students with coffee one day during finals (however it goes pretty fast) we’ll see about adding juice for next time.  I doubt if you (or anyone else) would get much studying done though if the library were giving out free mixed drinks!

Sunday Hours at Wascana

Comment: You should open earlier on Sundays.

In the past we have found that there are few students who come to the library early on Sunday morning, there was a demand for Sunday night hours and we will be opening late on Sundays again starting this weekend. However we constantly monitor usage and will consider changing the hours in the future if usage numbers warrant it.

24/7 Library Services

Comment: Can we have the library open 24X7?

The library is open 24 X 7 through mySIAST. Students and staff have access to the many services of SIAST Libraries like our e-books,  e-journals and magazines, resource renewals and much more. Please inquire at our ASK US Desk.

As for physical space of the Library in the Woodland Technical Centre it is not feasible to accommodate a 24X7 Library. We feel that the library is accessible seven days a week and that the hours of service adequately serve student and staff needs.

Library Hours at Kelsey

Thank you for participating in our Talk Back program. In the past we were open as late as 10:15 PM but we found the usage was minimal and therefore did not warrant staffing the library for that time. However we constantly monitor usage and will consider changing the hours in the future if usage numbers warrant it.
